History
The Mar Thoma Church in North America began as a small prayer group in Queens, New York, in 1972, reflecting the dreams and faith of its members. In 1976, the first approved parish was established, marking a significant milestone. As the community grew, the churches were organized as a Zone of the Mar Thoma Church in 1982, providing structure and unity. In recognition of its rapid expansion and spiritual impact, the Zone was elevated to a Diocese in 1988. From these humble beginnings, the Diocese has flourished, continuing to nurture faith, fellowship, and mission across North America.
